Dream Toys 2015 – The Official List of Top Toys This Christmas

BY Sue Williamson

If you have any children in your family, we’re sure you’ve realised by now that the countdown to Christmas is well underway and the toy lists are definitely being made. If you want to get a head start on shopping before the letters to Santa Claus are written and the toy shops become (even more of) a hell on earth, you need to see the Toy Retailers’ Association’s Dream Toys 2015.

Regardless of the age or gender of the child you will be buying for, you can almost guarantee that at least one of these toys will show up on their wish-list.

We shall be avoiding all unnecessary gender stereotyping by just telling you what toys are popular; we see no need for otherwise-identical pink versions for girls!

Top 12 Toys for Christmas 2015

Lego City Deep Sea Exploration Vessel

You really cannot go wrong with a Lego set – we’re not sure we have ever met a child who didn’t love it. This particular set includes a ship, a sunken wreck, some divers and some sharks to keep things interesting!

Disney Frozen Sing-a-Long With Elsa

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year or so, you will be more than familiar with the incredibly popular Frozen animated movie and the star of the show, Elsa. If your Frozen fan is also partial to some karaoke, here’s a doll that will let them sing together.

ID03D Deluxe Design Studio

We might be tempted to buy one of these for ourselves! The 8 pens allow children (and big children) to create 3D images using the pens alongside the patterns and UV light included in the box.

Little Live Pets Cleverkeet

Designed to be suitable for ages 5 and up, this interactive bird toy is a fun pet that doesn’t make a mess. Cleverkeet can sing, dance and swing, but can also copy its new best friend. Teach him to speak, ask him questions, but don’t forget to feed him.

Paw Patrol Paw Patroller

Up to six favourite Paw Patrol vehicles can be stored in the Paw Patroller, ready for the team to set off on their next big adventure. It even has seats for its passengers’ comfort. Most of the Paw Patrol toys will need to be purchased separately, but this set does include Ryder and his quad bike.

Pie Face

We do have sympathy for whoever is chosen to become the victim of this game come Christmas Day. It does look like a lot of fun though! As the name suggests, the game involves getting a “pie” to the face (either a wet sponge or some whipped cream) and much hilarity. Get a point for turning the handle without getting hit in the face and the first to 25 points wins.

Shopkins Food Fair Ice Cream Truck

Budding entrepreneurs can set up shop with this ice cream truck, ready to provide treats for their friends and family members this festive season. Be warned, this forms part of a collection, so your house may soon become overrun by Shopkins!

Star Wars Bladebuilders Lightsaber Collection

What could be better than receiving your very own lightsaber? How about the parts you need to build your very own customised one? Start with the Jedi Master Lightsaber and add the other sets to try as many of the hundreds of combinations as you can.

Lego Star Wars Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle

More Lego! More Star Wars! Those are definitely two of the recurring themes in this year’s Dream Toys list. As well as an incredibly detailed spaceship, the set includes Kylo Ren (of course), General Hux, First Order Officer, two First Order Crew and a First Order Stormtrooper minifigure.

Star Wars The Force Awakens Millennium Falcon

See? More Star Wars. The mid-December release of the newest instalment in the series won’t have done the franchise any harm when it comes to becoming a must-have toy this Christmas, so you’ll need to be quick if you have a mini-fan on your hands. This Millennium Falcon toy shoots Nerf darts and folds out into an interactive playset.

Thunderbirds Interactive Tracy Island

Here’s a blast from the past. Thunderbirds are back in force for 2015, with both the interactive Tracy Island and the four vehicles earning a mention by the Toy Retailers’ Association. Susan has one of these hidden in her loft, and would like to warn prospective buyers that you do need to buy the vehicles separately – none are included in the set.

Toot Toot Friends Busy Sounds Discovery House

The final item on the Top 12 list is this pre-school toy from Vtech. The interactive playset can connect to others in the Toot Toot Friends collection, enabling your tot to create their very own town. The Discovery House features interactive characters, music, sounds, lights and more.

There’s more to the Dream Toys list than just the top twelve. If you’re interested in seeing what else comes recommended for Christmas 2015, further listings can be found under these categories:
