Newsletter September 2018

BY Sue Williamson

With the good weather looking to continue into September (at the time of writing, at least!), you may not be feeling quite as autumnal as we tend to at this time of year. This is excellent news for those who like to enjoy the various events happening in and around London without (too much) fear of freezing and being soaked to the skin.

As always, we have plenty of recommendations to make if you are interested in trying something new this month but, for now, here are a few suggestions on what and where to go, do, see, buy and eat over the coming weeks.

Making Time for You

No matter what time of year it is, you can guarantee we have been busy bees as we ensure our clients’ work and home lives run as smoothly as possible. How could cushion the impact help you? Get in touch if you would like to discuss how we can remove some of the overwhelm from your life.

Throughout August, we have been:

  • Maintaining records of financial transactions
  • Overseeing rental properties
  • Sourcing pantomime tickets (yes already!)
  • Birthday afternoon tea in central London

Go:

To Granary Square on 16th September to peruse the wares at a car boot sale with a difference. The Art Car Boot Fair provides a platform for artists to sell their works directly to buyers, and comprises Turner Prize winners, up-and-coming artists, and everyone in between. The artists are invited by the organisers and simply turn up with what they want to sell – so you’ll need to show up if you want to buy. Advance tickets are now available.

Do:

Take part in the “mindfulness triathlon” that is Wanderlust 108. Rather than the traditional triathlon events, this Battersea Park involves a 5km run or walk, 90 minutes of yoga, and a guided meditation session. Those participating on 15th September can also enjoy aerial yoga, acro-yoga and a variety of other workshops, as well as live music and plenty of artisanal food, goods and activities.

See:

Parts of London normally hidden from public view, when they open for one weekend only during this year’s Open House London event. More than 800 buildings and sights will be accessible for a limited time, after which you will need to wait for another year before getting another opportunity to explore. More information, and booking, can be found on the Open House London website.

Buy:

Tickets for 100% Design, where you could find something spectacular from an emerging design talent. Before the winter gloom sets in, explore the latest interior design trends, and perhaps invest in something beautiful for your home. There’s nothing quite like relaxing a room you really love, and this could be where you find what your home (or office) is missing.

Eat:

At the brand-new Old Compton Brasserie in Soho. The soft-opening runs from 29th August, until the official opening on 4th September. With a sample menu comprising pork and pistachio terrine, burratina, salt beef Reuben sandwiches, and a plethora of delicious-sounding vegetable, fish, and meat-based dishes, this Old Compton Street eatery looks to have something to satisfy everyone.
