Dream Toys Christmas 2018

Barbie Ultimate Kitchen (£36.99)

Modern Barbie wants to be an independent woman with a career of her own and this playset contains everything she needs to become an outstanding chef. From the apron and accessories to a fully-stocked kitchen, Barbie will be all set to cook up a storm on Christmas morning. The set is also compatible with other Barbie playsets, however the recipient’s imagination would like to combine them. (We are rolling our eyes at the gender stereotyping at this and some of the other presents!)

Boxer Interactive AI Robot (£46.99)

An interactive robot friend who learns using artificial intelligence and can play 10 or so games is surely the stuff of Christmas dreams. Boxer is sometimes happy, grumpy, or sleepy – just like the rest of us – but is always ready to play with his new best friend. This is a tiny robot with an enormous personality

Cra-Z Slimy Super Slime Studio (£27.99)

First off, we would suspect that this is probably not a toy you would want to buy for your own child, no matter how much they’d love it! If you decide to bite the bullet and embrace the current craze for slime, this Super Slime Studio will enable your little darlings to create their own, potentially encouraging an interest in STEM skills. What’s the worst that could happen? Speaking from experience, Susan says it’s having to replace a bedroom carpet… Buy at your own risk!

L.O.L Surprise Pop Up Store (£39.99)

L.O.L dolls have been a constant on the Christmas lists of the past few years, and show no signs of letting up in 2018. This particular playset can hold over 55 dolls, provides the backdrop for several play scenarios, and can be converted into a handy carry case for your precious L.O.L cargo.

L.O.L Surprise Under Wraps Doll (£14.99)

Each of these Eye Spy-themed L.O.L sets contain 15 items, most of which are clues and tools to help you find the missing pet. Some of the surprises will only appear when you feed or bathe your L.O.L with water, or when using the included spyglass. The capsule containing this super-secret gift can be used as a carrying purse and doll stand when your tiny sleuth has cracked the case.

Laser X Double Pack (£34.99)

Laser quest at home! How much fun does that sound? Both players wear a vest which changes colour with each hit, and the first to be hit ten times is out. There’s nothing like a little competitiveness at a family Christmas, after all.

LEGO™ Hogwarts Great Hall (£89.99)

If you have a Harry Potter fan to buy for, this is a bit of a no-brainer. It is expensive, but LEGO always is, and there’s plenty of potential for imagination after the Great Hall has been built. We’ll leave the debate around keeping it intact or creating your own version up to you.

Monopoly Fortnite Edition (£21.99)

Unless you have been living under a rock all year, you’re sure to have heard of Fortnite, if not been subjected to seemingly endless hours of chatter about the latest gaming sensation. In this edition of Monopoly, Fortnite is combined with the much-loved family board game, offering a new way to avoid the storm and bag Victory Royale.

Paw Patrol Ultimate Rescue Fire Truck (£49.99)

Marshall’s Ultimate Rescue fire truck has a 2ft extendable ladder, mini fire cart, lights and sounds and, of course, Marshall himself. If this means nothing to you, don’t worry – it will mean the world to the Paw Patrol fan in your life.

Poopsie Surprise Unicorn (£49.99)

This does pretty much what it says on the tin – the unicorn produces a poopsie slime surprise, much to the delight of small children everywhere. Does toilet humour ever get old? Feed the unicorn with one of the food sachets, and wait for the inevitable “surprise” to materialise.

Untamed Jailbreak T-Rex Playset (£24.99)

Remember Fingerlings from last year? They’re back for 2018 with a T-Rex jailbreak playset. Keep the ferocious dino in his cage, until you’re ready to pull the lever and let him out for some training. Don’t worry, he can be contained again if it gets too much. Once you tame the stubborn T-Rex, those roars and hisses will become friendly nuzzles and purrs.

Wizard Training Wand (£17.99)

Harry Potter is still going strong, with two toys on this year’s Dream Toys list. This second entry, the Wizard Training Wand, lets your child master eleven spells with the help of an enclosed spell book. Now, was it LeviOsa or LeviosA?
