4 Of The Best UK Festivals

Summer means something slightly different to all of us; a sunny fortnight abroad, long holidays from school or university and, hopefully, some fantastically balmy evenings in a pub garden.  These are all great aspects of the warmest season of the year (allegedly!) however, one of the highlights must be the fabulous festivals hosted throughout the UK.

T In The Park

Every July, in a large field near Edinburgh, thousands of festival-goers celebrate the hottest names in music, as they perform at the near-legendary T in the Park. Attractions such as Fancy Dress Friday, a fairground and a cabaret club will be on the menu, alongside stars such as Emeli Sande, Mumford & Sons, The Script, Snoop Dogg, The Killers and The Stereophonics. If you’re going along, don’t miss the Kaleidoscope Club – break dancers, string quartets, light shows and more. T in The Park will take place in Balado from 12th-14th July. Tickets are now available online, priced from £75. VIP accommodation and tickets are also on-sale; contact us to find out more.

Glastonbury

Quite possibly the ultimate UK music and performing arts festival, no blog about the events would be complete without a mention of Glastonbury. As usual, this year’s line-up is nothing short of fantastic – The Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, Mumford & Sons and Rufus Wainwright are just the tip of the iceberg. The full line-up can be found on the Glastonbury website. Standard tickets have sold out for the 2013 festival but please get in touch if you are interested in a VIP package. The Glastonbury Festival 2013 will run from 28th-30th June.

Download

This one is definitely a love-it-or-hate-it festival but thousands of people wait eagerly for it every year. Perfect for those who like their music a bit harder than that found at the likes of T in The Park or Glastonbury, Download visitors will be entertained by the likes of Slipknot, Rammstein, Iron Maiden and 30 Seconds to Mars. Tickets are on sale on the festival website, priced from £82.50 for a one-day ticket for either Friday 14th, Saturday 15th or Sunday 16th June. Again, we can help with VIP packages.

Farmfestival

You don’t have to go to one of the big-name festivals to have an unforgettable time. If you fancy something a bit more quirky, have a look at Farmfestival; due to hit Somerset on the 26th and 27th July. Best hat parades, Punch & Judy shows, local cider and ale tents, farmer-themed wrestling and a range of organic and vegetarian food are a few of the things which make Farmfestival unique. Created by a group of friends six years ago to provide an antidote to what they saw as over-priced, corporate festivals, Farmfestival promises fun for all the family and plenty of charitable donations. This year, the festival will be supporting The British Stammering Association, Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance and Practical Action. Weekend tickets cost £50 and can be purchased from the Farmfestival website.

Camping doesn’t need to mean a freezing tent…

If you’re planning to attend one of these, or any other festival this summer, make sure to spend some time looking into the various types of camping accommodation. It’s not all about freezing in tents anymore! Make the experience altogether more pleasant by availing of a Podpad,  a Strawberries & Cream Bell Tent from The Glam Camping Company or embracing the festival vibe fully and hiring a VW Campervan. Remember, it’s about glamping, not just camping!
