London Accommodation with a Difference

If you are planning a trip to London, choosing a hotel can seem like a near impossible task. The busy city is packed full of excellent hotels, making it difficult to pick just one to stay in. If you want to stay somewhere memorable during your time in the capital, each of these venues has something to distinguish it from the crowd.

Garret

Located above one of Earl’s Court’s most famous cafés, the Troubadour, this apartment offers a place to stay at the heart of the action.  The Troubadour hosts charmingly bohemian poetry readings and music events, while serving good food and a selection of excellent wines. If a 1950s coffee house and a music venue once frequented by the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan appeals to you, make sure you book the Garret above the Troubadour for your next venture into town.

40 Winks

A bed and breakfast inside the family home of interior designer, David Carter, 40 Winks’ exterior couldn’t look more different to a luxury hotel but the accommodation is fast becoming a favourite amongst film stars and the fashion set. Two bedrooms within the fantastic house have been set aside for guests and can be booked either by the night or by the week. Mr Carter has not installed a television set in either bedroom, after all there are far more interesting things to do in London, but there is a secret TV in the drawing room. Rooms book up months in advance but, if you miss out, try to attend a Bedtime Stories event, where the house is opened up to guests.  Just remember that you must wear pyjamas!

Charlotte Street Hotel

This luxury boutique hotel was once a dental hospital, but that isn’t the characteristic which has qualified it for this list. Rather, it is the mini-cinema which made it appeal to us. The Sunday Night Film Club is a highlight of a stay in this fantastic hotel, where guests can enjoy a three course meal before retiring to the onsite cinema for a classic film. If you decide to stay at the Charlotte Street Hotel, you can choose between a range of bedrooms and suites, each as delightfully decorated as the last. We haven’t even mentioned the original artwork yet…

Myhotel Chelsea

Myhotel in Chelsea has a fantastically typically English atmosphere to it; from the farmhouse kitchen to the floral sofas and scones, it just feels like home. Each of the bedrooms has been designed to provide glamour and comfort to guests and what could be more decadent than availing of spa treatments in your own room? The hotel has partnered with a nearby spa to enable guests to enjoy treatments such as massages and manicures in the comfort of their bedroom. Another feature which will appeal to those in need of relaxation is the guest-only conservatory library; where magazines and books can be enjoyed alongside afternoon tea in incredibly comfortable sofas. What a great way to unwind!
