Top Tips For A Healthy Smile All Year Round
Good dental hygiene can have a significant effect on your general health and well-being, not just the condition of your teeth. In this article, Dr Sarah Kasasa of Smile-A-Moment shares her top tips for keeping your teeth, and yourself, healthy and strong.
– Brush teeth twice a day with a fluoride tooth paste.
– Brush teeth for 2 minutes.
– If you are to rush, don’t brush as rushing damages enamel on teeth and causes recession of the gums.
– Electric tooth brushes can give a cleaner mouth.
– Use a tongue scraper regularly.
– Floss daily as food deposits between teeth can lead to periodontal disease and or halitosis (bad breath).
– Drink plenty of mineral water to hydrate and wash away food debris.
– Avoid sugary snacks in between meals; opt for healthy options like carrot sticks.
– Avoid acidic drinks as they dissolve tooth enamel.
– Eat fruits and vegetables for the anti-oxidants that boost the immunity in the mouth and the body.
– Use a fluoride mouthwash daily to prevent tooth decay.
– Visit the dentist every six months.
– Visit the dental hygienist every six months for a deep professional clean to prevent inflammation and reduce the risk of heart disease, strokes, diabetes…
