4 New London Restaurants for You to Try
Not only has July been blessed with fantastic weather, it has also seen a host of amazing restaurants opening around London. There is one downside of having such a rich restaurant culture – trying to decide which one to visit next. To make your decision a little easier, here are four of our top picks for this month.
Authentic regional Italian dishes and a selection of over 150 carefully-sourced wines from small producers are awaiting you at Monty’s Wine Bar in Fitzrovia. Diners can choose from the extensive charcuterie, handmade breads, a wide range of artisan cheeses, sharing tapas platters or more substantial pasta and meat dishes. Monty’s also has two private dining rooms, perfect for small business or friendly gatherings of up to 25 people.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Whyte & Brown don’t really care; they’ve dedicated an entire restaurant to both. It’s amazing how much you can do with these two basic ingredients; chicken and pancetta croquette balls, gruyere quiche, chicken souvlaki, pea and ricotta poached egg risotto and lemon leek risotto poached eggs are just a few of the delicious bites available. Whyte & Brown also offer a breakfast menu including scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, sourdough bread, bacon and pastries.

Pop along to Borough Market between Tuesday and Saturday to experience the joys of eating lobster purchased from a 1957 Volkswagen campervan. The lobster-coloured campervan serves numerous lobster-based dishes, including lobster in a brioche roll or lobster macaroni cheese. If you’re not keen on lobster but still want to take part in the food truck revolution, tuna tacos are also available. Once you’ve ordered your food, choose a drink from the wine, prosecco and ales chilling in the retro ice-cream cart and settle down on a deck chair. Perfect for these glorious summers days.

If Southern food tickles your fancy, look no further than Joe’s Southern Kitchen & Bar in Covent Garden. Fried chicken, soft-shell crab, mac n cheese, devilled ham, beer can chicken, blackened catfish… it’s an authentic slice of the Deep South right here in London.
