Chimerica

Hot on the heels of a sold out run at the Almeida Theatre, Chimerica has now taken up residence in the Harold Pinter Theatre until mid-October.  You have nine weeks to catch this fantastic play, telling the tale of a young American photojournalist who finds himself in Tiananmen Square one fateful day in 1989. Fast forward two decades and Joe, the photojournalist, spots a cryptic message in the newspaper; can he find out the truth about the hero in his photos?

The 39 Steps

The 1935 Hitchcock film, The 39 Steps, has been very successfully recreated as a theatre play. Four actors play a total of 139 roles in the play, which is a classic “whodunit”.  The Criterion Theatre is currently home to the award-winning show, which stars handsome hero Richard Hannay and a plethora of murders, double-crossing secret agents and incredibly attractive women. The 39 Steps promises over an hour and a half of fast-paced fun – we had a great time.

A Doll’s House

After not one, but two, sell-out runs at the Young Vic, A Doll’s House has moved to The Duke of York’s Theatre for a very limited run of twelve weeks. Some of the original cast have stayed on, including Hattie Morahan as the star of the show, Nora Helmer, and Dominic Rowan as her husband, Torvald. Nora has borrowed money to save Torvald’s health and now finds herself sinking deeper and deeper into her web of deceit and debt. When the ruthless debt collector comes knocking, what is in store for the Helmers? There’s only one way to find out…

 The Book of Mormon

If you haven’t got around to seeing this musical from the creators of South Park, you definitely should make the time to do so. Starring a pair of Mormon Elders, sent to Uganda to convert a village, the play is incredibly funny and quite surprisingly un-shocking given who wrote it! The Book of Mormon is at the Prince of Wales Theatre until next February, giving you plenty of time to make it to a showing. Don’t miss it!
