The Great Christmas Pudding Race 2013
When you think of great races in London, the first one to spring to mind is probably the marathon. There are plenty of races run on the city’s street over the course of the year but none are quite as festive as this one – the Great Christmas Pudding Race.
The 33rd annual Great Christmas Pudding Race, organised by the Cancer Research Aid Committee, will be run in London Saturday 7th December and in Brighton on 14th. The London race will start from Covent Garden and the Brighton one will start on New Road, both at 11am. In their quest to raise funds for Cancer Research, teams competing in each race will need to balance a Christmas pudding on a tray while they tackle a tricky obstacle course and traverse a flying foam slalom. To make it even more entertaining for spectators, each of the competitors must wear Christmas fancy dress.
If you know someone taking part, or just fancy some festive fun, the Great Christmas Pudding Races are well worth a visit. As well as the main event, the atmosphere at Covent Garden and New Road, Brighton will be boosted by a variety of excellent street entertainers. What a great way to get into the Christmas spirit!
