Will You be Taking The Big Veg Pledge in Veggie Month?
Every March, Animal Aid runs their Veggie Month campaign, encouraging people to take the opportunity to try vegetarianism for a few weeks. The campaign focuses on emphasising the benefits of a meat-free diet and tempting those who may be toying with the idea of giving up meat to bite the bullet and give it a try. There are a number of reasons why Animal Aid would like to see an increase in vegetarianism – it’s more environmentally friendly and could save the lives of up to one billion animals, fish and sea creatures every year. If your interest has been piqued and you’d like to know more about Veggie Month and the Big Veg Pledge, read on…
If you do decide to take the plunge and go veggie for a month (or longer!) the organisers of Veggie Month believe that it is easier than ever to achieve. A wide range of vegetarian dishes and ingredients are available in most supermarkets and restaurants now and there are even quite a few dedicated eateries in London. Have a look at our blog for some suggestions.
You won’t even have to give up old favourites like sausage rolls, pies and fish fingers as there are plenty of veggie-friendly substitutions now available.
In addition to providing you with all the vitamins, minerals and fibre your body needs, a vegetarian diet is generally lower in saturated fat than eating meat. However many benefits it may have, we know that vegetarianism (like all other lifestyle choices) is a very personal issue. We haven’t written this blog in an attempt to convince anyone to convert (most of us in the office eat meat) but, if you like the idea and want more information, have a look at the official website.
