Looking after the planet : Part 1
How to be energy efficient – save the planet…and your bills!
Most people, whether they believe in climate change is caused by humans on the planet or not, are happy to cut down their consumption as long as it doesn’t impinge too much on their quality of life. I’m not going to preach, everyone should start with what they’re comfortable with, but everyone should start. Oops did I say I wasn’t going to preach, I won’t I promise.
In the office our electricity supply is green, we recycle everything possible, at home we compost everything (that’s a royal we, I let my other half sort out the compost bin as he seems to be less affected by the smell when the lid comes off!) and put everything out for the recycling collection which is great as it now takes shredded paper which we seem to produce at an amazing rate.
Does that make us feel terribly worthy? Not at all as it’s not very difficult. Not using a car in London is easy as we don’t have one and when as a company we need one we use Streetcar although a certain person claims that using black cabs is a good environmental tactic as they’re driving around anyway so one ought to use them. I did say I wasn’t going to preach didn’t I, I’m not perfect?
The Energy Saving Trust has lots of ways to help and for the next few weeks we’ll be passing on their hints and tips, they’re easy to follow
