cushion the impact meets Janine Fahri of Nutrilife
In part three of our series of interviews with people in different industries, we caught up with Janine Fahri of Nutrilife. We posed ten questions about her career, how she got started and what she loves about her job: here’s how she answered. Thank you Janine!
1. What do you do?
I’m a nutritional therapist with an academic background in psychology. In a nutshell, I use the power of food, dietary supplements and motivational techniques to help individuals manage existing health concerns and prevent the development of new ones. I am also the resident nutritional expert for the Daily Mail and ELLE magazine.
2. How did this type of work interest you? And how did you get started?
I read BSc (Hons) Psychology at the University of London and subsequently pursued a media career within the health and lifestyle sectors. This experience, coupled with personal childhood illness, cultivated an interest in the relationship between diet and optimum health and led me to London’s renowned University of Westminster where I was awarded First Class Honours in BSc (Hons) Nutritional Therapy.
3. How long have you been doing it?
I saw my first patient in 2003.
4. What is the favourite part of your job?
Helping and inspiring others to look and feel better.
5. What is the weirdest thing that has ever happened to you at work?
A young man stripped down to his underpants mid-winter to encourage a ‘kinder’ reading on the scales!
6. What is a typical day like for you?
I don’t really have a ‘typical’ day per se. I could be seeing patients, writing for a magazine or newspaper, training doctors, endorsing a product or presenting a workshop!
