Earth Day 2013 – Monday 22nd April
Whether we choose to acknowledge it or not, every one of us, who makes use of smartphones, tablets and the other assorted electronic gadgets which have become part of our daily lives, is contributing to climate change.
Next Monday 22nd April, millions of people around the world will join together to protect the planet we all call home.
Each April 22nd is Earth Day and for 2013 the theme is The Face of Climate Change. While many of us may push thoughts of climate change to the back of our minds, something our grandchildren and great-grandchildren can deal with, the consequences are already seem to be apparent in some parts of the world. Sea levels are rising in the Maldives; flooding and cyclones in Bangladesh and many species of animals, including polar bears, orang-utans and whales are becoming ever more endangered.
The Earth Day Network is arranging numerous events around the world and ask that you let them know how you plan to mark the day. Photos and videos can be submitted online for inclusion in montages and displays broadcast on Earth Day. To submit your Earth Day material, email earthday2013@earthday.org.
