Eat, Drink & Be Merry – London’s Pop-up Scene December 2014
We know that pretty much everything (our blog included) has been taken over by the festive reason recently, so it’s easy to forget that there are plenty of completely unrelated events happening in and around London. If you want to get out and about without getting involved in any of the traditional December activities, have a look at these pop-up bars and restaurants. Of course, some of them will have some festive aspects to them, but there’s something to suit even the Grinch-iest of folk.
Neither turkey nor sprout will be found at this traditional Thai restaurant in bar in London Fields. Open from Thursdays to Sundays from now until early 2015, Som Saa has a variety of lesser known but no less delicious Thai dishes on offer, including grilled fermented pork, beef shin hot and sour soup and salted Bo.Lan palm sugar ice cream. Don’t forget to try the cocktails too.

Forza has become something of a favourite in the field of pop-ups over the past year or so, and fans are sure to be delighted to see that the team are back once more with Forza Winter. Guests will dine on five courses of outstanding Italian food and, of course, plenty of bubbling, cheesy fondue. Big flavours, generous portions and simple execution are the order of the day, with numerous cocktails on hand to wash it all down nicely.

A pop-up dumpling house! Why have we never seen one of these before? Opening from 6pm every Friday, My Neighbours The Dumplings are upstairs at Palm 2, serving hand made dumplings, rice wine and live music to guests. The concept is incredibly simple; take a menu and tick what you want to eat. We’re sure you can manage the rest without instructions.

A Norse vodka bar taking up winter residence in Sky Lounge; what more could you ask for? Some of the vodka, of course. Candle-lit wooden cabins, open fires and hunter-gatherer-esque feasts are enough to convince us that sitting in an open-air rooftop bar in London in December is a good idea.

Underground Drinking Club Christmas
Those of you cursing us for including a pop-up with Christmas in its name will be sure to forgive us as soon as you find out what it involves. So what does it involve? Basically, a lot of drinking. Underground. Book your spot now and take part in one of the two-hour cocktail master classes taking part in the abandoned Tube lines under the former Old Street station on 22nd and 23rd December. See? We told you it was good.
