Eating Out in London This Month – Our Top New Restaurants

BY cushion the impact

Although January seemed to last forever, it finally came to a close and February arrived in its place, marking the end of the January blues and the start of springtime. We are choosing to ignore the snow, torrential rain and gale-force winds which are hitting many parts of the UK! With any new month comes some new restaurants in London and here’s what we love so far.

The Rum Kitchen

Since it opened its doors at the start of January, The Rum Kitchen in Notting Hill has been treating patrons to the wonders of Caribbean food and drink. The beach-hut inspired eatery serves favourites such as jerk chicken, curried mutton and seafood gumbo alongside over 100 varieties of rum. To truly capture the Caribbean spirit, drinks and meals are accompanied by a soundtrack of Reggae, Latin, Afro-Funk and Calypso tunes. Music fact fans – The Rum Kitchen’s music is supplied by DJ Fast of Fun Lovin’ Criminals fame.

Gail’s Kitchen

If you love Gail’s Artisan Bakery, you definitely need to find the time to visit Gail’s Kitchen, the restaurant opened by the same team in November. As you would expect, bakery produce features heavily on the menu; which is made up of the type of food the bakers love to make once they go home in the evenings. Smoked prawns with aioli and caramelised garlic bread, Raclette on toast with potatoes and roasted shallot and baked chicken, cabbage, Gruyere and bread soup are just a few of the mouth-watering dishes available.

Cucina Asellina

The swanky new ME Hotel is now home to a third great restaurant. Cucina Asellina has joined STK London and the Radio Rooftop Bar, offering high-quality food at more affordable prices.  Italian fare with a New York twist forms the menu at Cucina Asellina, with menu highlights including calamari fritti with tomato relish and fresh marjoram, papardelle with braised wild boar & cannonau wine, and grilled wild branzino with saffron fregola and seafood ragu.
