Fabulously Fugacious Fleeting Fun – London’s May Pop-ups

Apologies to the alliteration haters but be warned, we will be back next month once we’ve come up with a snappy title based around transitory, ephemeral or evanescent.

Whatever thesaurus entry tickles your fancy, the point is that these events will only be around for a limited time so we highly recommend getting your skates on and experiencing them for yourself.

Secret Theatre

There’s only so much we can tell you about Secret Theatre because, well, it’s a secret. The world-famous theatre company, who have previously organised the world premiere of Edward Scissorhands on stage in a disused New York factory amongst other quirky productions, are back in London from 6th-31st May with their current extravaganza. All we know is that it is something “new, neoteric, new-fangled and novel. Never seen before in the UK in any medium.” That definitely sounds like something worth investing an evening in! Tickets are available online now.

Open every weekend from now until 15th June, Fairground brings a smorgasbord of food, drink and opinions to all three floors of an abandoned office block in Hackney. Described as a festival experience showcasing all that is great about London, the attractions of Fairground include Wah Nails, music from Lazy Talk and opinions from professional tweeter David Levin, GQ Fashion Edition Nick Carvell and music moguls Lincoln Elias and Ben Parmer in the Grandaad Lounge. Alongside all that, there’s more food and drink than you can shake a stick at.

Artisan wine fair, RawFair, is the place to be in May if you reckon you’re a bit of a wine connoisseur. With over 150 producers taking part, the event is bound to be one of the most exciting and extensive collections of organic, natural and biodynamic wine artisans to hit London. On 18th and 19th May, the aforementioned experts will be gathered at the Old Truman Brewery, ready and waiting to assist with your tasting of approximately 1,000 wines before settling on the favourite(s) you plan to purchase. There will also be plenty of talks and seminars on hand for those who wish to know a little more about their wines. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
