Film4 takes over Somerset House
Film 4 Summer Screen
Londoners needn’t fear a lack of entertainment in the city during the period in between the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. Film4 has once again taken over the grounds of Somerset House to run London’s most popular open-air cinema.
The cinema runs until 27th August, showing a range of favourite and classic movies. The films are not the only entertainment available; the organisers have arranged DJs and behind the scenes talks from BAFTA to make the experience even more amazing. A sunny summer’s day, a picnic, a big screen showing a fantastic film and some live music – what more could you ask for? A couple of us from the office have been and it’s fun.
Film4 Summer Screen will be showing a different film each day for the duration of the event, with double bills at the weekends. The schedule is as follows:
Monday 20th August Apocalypse Now
Tuesday 21st August Bicycle Thieves
Wednesday 22nd August Paris, Texas
Thursday 23rd August Pretty in Pink
Friday 24th August Boogie Nights & Beyond the Valley of the Dolls
Saturday 25th August Sexy Beast & Drive
Sunday 26th August Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Monday 27th August Lawless
Tickets are available for all showings, as well as for the Behind The Scenes documentaries, priced at £14.50 for a single showing and £18.00 for a double-bill. Somerset House is easily accessible from Charing Cross, Embankment, Covent Garden and Temple Tube stations.
Take blankets, warm clothes, a cushion to sit on and a picnic!
