Great Spitalfields Pancake Race
This Shrove Tuesday teams of four people dressed in wacky costumes will take to the streets of Spitalfields to raise funds for London’s Air Ambulance Service by taking part in the annual Great Spitalfields Pancake Race.
The race will start from Dray Walk, just off Brick Lane, at 12.30pm on Tuesday 12th February. Admission to the race is free as funds are raised via sponsorship or donations on the day. All you need is yourself, three friends for your team and a frying pan each; pancakes will be supplied by Casaba’s Hungarian Creperie. Although you can join the race on the day, organisers Alternative Arts would prefer if teams could register in advance, either by emailing info@alternativearts.co.uk or phoning 020 7375 0441 for an application form.
It’s not all about winning the race either; other prizes on the day will include best dressed team and a runners-up prize. The race will be accompanied by music from the Lost Marbles String Band.
