London New Year’s Day Parade 2013
With approximately ten thousand performers from all over the world due to take part, London’s New Year’s Day Parade will certainly welcome 2013 in style.
The 27th New Year’s Day Parade will start from Piccadilly at 11.45am on Tuesday 1st January, continuing through Piccadilly Circus, Lower Regent Street, Waterloo Place, Pall Mall, Cockspur Street, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall before finishing on Parliament Street. More than half a million spectators are expected to line the two-mile route to take in the sights of a variety of entertainment from 20 countries and 33 London boroughs.
Marching bands, cheerleaders, clowns, acrobats and more will form the parade, which is due to be broadcast live on the BBC and various overseas television stations including CNN and Fox News. Some notable participants include all the Queen’s horses, Heroes for Charity – Star Wars, Universal Dance Association, The London Pearly Kings and Queens Society and London 2012 Gamesmakers and Pandemonium Drummers. The full line-up can be viewed on the Parade’s website.
The “Grand Finale Concert for the London New Year’s Day Parade & Festival and The London International Choral Festival” will follow on 2nd January. Commencing at 8pm, the concert will feature performances from a choir of 150 singers accompanied by The Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra.
If you would like to attend the parade, spectating along the route is free of charge (if you can find space!) or a ticket on the Grandstand at Piccadilly can be purchased for £20. Concert tickets are also now available for £10.
