As summer approaches, many of us are dreaming of our holidays and the sun, sea and sand that go along with it. It may not be time to go to the seaside yet, but there is a way to sample the delights without leaving London. The Bonnie Gull Seafood Café has recently opened in Exmouth Market, serving some of the best seafood from all over the UK. Choose from the selection of fish and shellfish (try the Raw Bar!) and finish your meal off with a stick of Blackpool or Brighton rock. Almost everything you go to the seaside for!

Located in Shoreditch’s Tea Building, Lyle’s serves simple yet delicious British food in a beautifully simple environment. Owner James Lowe has plenty of contacts in the farming industry, meaning Lyle’s is supplied with some of the finest produce in Britain. The menu changes regularly due to the use of fresh, local ingredients, with sample dishes including raw Highland beef with cured sea urchin and cress, Dover Sole with purple sprouting broccoli and cider butter and lamb sweetbread with nettle and lettuce.

Simple dishes served casually is the theme at Bill Granger’s newest restaurant, where the menu includes such delights as parmesan crumbed chicken schnitzel, sticky chilli belly pork, Ashdale West Country sirloin steak and baked butter beans with roasted cauliflower, paneer and spiced mango chutney. If you’re planning to visit Granger & Co, remember they don’t take reservations so you will need to show up and wait. The food is well worth it!
