London’s popup bars and restaurants – January 2016

BY Sue Williamson

Hopefully you’re not too jaded after the festivities, let’s move on to the outstanding popup bars, restaurants and events coming to the capital this January.

January 2016 popups in London

A Poitín Tasting

Until quite recently, poitín was the stuff of legends – illegal though it was, there were plenty of Poitín makers dotted around Ireland, and even more punters willing to give it a try. Now that it is perfectly above board, the Sun Tavern in Bethnal Green is hosting a month-long poitín tasting event, where you can try a selection of 40-90% alcohol concoctions. You’ll even get a poitín-based cocktail to finish off the session. Interested? Sign up online now.

Christabel’s Popup Parties

If you’d like to start 2016 with something that is quite likely very different from your average night out, have a look at Christabel’s range of popup parties running throughout the month. From a Mad Hatter’s Brunch to Bejewelling Cocktails, and from Cocktails and Crack to Macaroon Art, these rather eclectic events look absolutely fantastic.

The Museum of Innocence

Nobel Prize-winning author Orham Pamuk will be hosting his Museum of Innocence manifestation of his novel, in Somerset House from late January until 3rd April. Following on from a successful installation in India, Pamuk will be creating real-life versions of items found within the book, adding a touch of reality to the story and enabling visitors to visualise the setting for themselves.
