Mark World Theatre Day by Taking In One of These Unmissable Shows
Since 1961, World Theatre Day has been celebrated globally on 27th March. The event, which was created by the International Theatre Institute, involves the circulation of an International Message by a well-known person as well as numerous local celebrations. This year’s message, from Dario Fo, can be read on the World Theatre Day website.
What better way to take part in the celebrations than by visiting one of London’s theatres to enjoy a show? As always, the shows mentioned in this blog are just a taster of what is on offer; if you would like help with both the decision and the tickets, just get in touch.
National treasure Helen Mirren stars as the Queen in this world premiere of The Audience. Running at the Gielgud Theatre until 15 June, the play tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II’s private weekly meetings with each of the Prime Ministers of the past sixty years. What could she be discussing with Cameron, Blair, Major, Churchill et al? The Audience does a great job of imagining the conversations, which are to remain secret from even the participants’ spouses. Tickets are priced between £12 and £98, with a limited number of day tickets released for sale at 10am each day for £10. Champagne and VIP packages are also available; please contact us for more information.
