Marvellous May Popups in London

If you have space in your diary after reading our May events blog, there’s even more to come to keep you busy. Every month, London is home to an array of fantastic popup bars, restaurants and events and, of course, May is no different.

Here are just a few of the temporary venues running this month – get in touch if you would like to know more or for alternative suggestions.

Little Nan’s Cocktail Den

Between 13th May and 15th August, the people who brought us Little Nan’s Bar and Little Nan’s House Party will be back once more, this time with a cocktail den. Book a two-hour slot at the Shoreditch bar and prepare yourself for bottomless teapots of cocktails, accompanied by Pic N Mix and popcorn. They’ll even name a cocktail in your honour if you’re celebrating a birthday, wedding, engagement or similar.

52 Social’s Chopsticks of Fury

The first in a planned series of popups from 52 Social, Chopsticks of Fury opened on 23rd April and will run until June. With screenings of classic Kung-Fu films, live Asian music and, of course, delicious Asian food, the restaurant offers an excellent experience for your next meal out. As is essential for all great popups nowadays, Chopsticks of Fury also boasts an impressive cocktail list devised by the in-house mixologists. The theme will change after two months, so make sure you don’t miss it.

Struie Road

For one night only in May, The Wild Game Co will be back with an outstanding menu using only meat from their own family’s farm near Inverness. In honour of their roots, this popup will focus on Scottish-themed food and drink, with all ingredients used for the 8-course meal sourced from suppliers local to the Struie Road (the real one in Scotland, not the popup). If you can’t make the 29th May, don’t worry – Struie Road will run once a month until November, serving the likes of cold smoked Scottish salmon, haggis with horseradish, and Red Deer Chateaubriand.

The Life & Death of Paul Marrane

How does a murder mystery sound to you? If you like the idea, you need to book yourself into this four-hour interactive event from A Door in a Wall. You will need a team of around 3-6 people, comfortable shoes and at least one smartphone between you to take part in the investigation, which involves searching nearby streets for clues. What was the story of Professor Paul Marrane’s life and who ended it? Tickets are selling out fast, but are still available for some late May dates as at the time of writing.

Alder & Alder, 12-14 Vesey Path, Chrisp Street Market, Poplar, E14 6BT
