New London Restaurants for March 2013

Although there is no shortage of great food in London, we always love trying somewhere new. As we know that many of you will feel the same, here are a few highlights of the new restaurants opening in London this month.  This selection is just the tip of the iceberg so, as always, please get in touch if you would like some help choosing the perfect restaurant for a specific occasion.

Master & Servant

Manhattan-style exposed brickwork and reclaimed lighting, seasonal dishes and amazing cocktails by Happiness Forgets have teamed up form Master & Servant in Hoxton. Owned by Masterchef finalist Matt Edwards and chef Luke Cleghorn of St John Hotel fame, Master & Servant holds its own in the foodie quarter of Hoxton, serving dishes such as crab claws with chipotle mayonnaise, smoked meats, hog roasts and pistachio donuts with honey. Oh and, yes, it is named after a Depeche Mode song.

8-9 Hoxton Square, London, N1 6NU Telephone: 020 7729 4626

Another new kid on the Hoxton block, Monikers has done old school in a novel way; by opening up in an actual old school. This will quite probably be the most enjoyable time you’ve had in a school gym!  A private dining room has been fashioned from an old bus and guests who book it are positively encouraged to graffiti using the supplied marker pens. The ever-evolving menu can be found on Twitter daily and sample dishes include brown crab on toast, braised soy short rib with spring greens and warm salad of Arbroath Smokie with new potatoes and a soft-boiled quail’s egg.

Oui Madame

Open from Tuesday to Sunday on the Stoke Newington/Dalston border, Oui Madame changes her menu as she sees fit, with help from chef Stéfan Laugenie.  Only one option is available per course, with all dishes based on a theme of French food with a modern kick. Exquisite wines and champagnes from independent French producers only, Absinthe and ingredients such as mallard duck, roasted pumpkin and mussels await visitors to this small but perfectly-formed bistro.

182 Stoke Newington Road, London, N16 7UY Telephone: 07739 798566

It’s not strictly a restaurant but we love this idea! Potage owner Georgia Cummings will deliver food to your door; all of which has been cooked from scratch by her own fair hand, using only the freshest ingredients from Portobello Market. Due to using fresh ingredients, the menu changes daily but always features a soup or stew with accompanying bread, a salad pot and a delicious brownie or chocolate mousse to finish.  Orders can be placed in advance or up to 30 minutes before delivery. Georgia currently delivers to the W2, W8, W10 and W11 postcodes on her bicycle.
