The end of the festive season doesn’t mean that we stop wanting to go out. Although January is traditionally a month of austerity, there are plenty of new restaurants popping up in London should you decide to treat yourself.
This new dining room opened above the Cannon & Cannon deli in Brixton in early December, serving a variety of inventive dishes to diners. The Thursday evening supper club offers a four-course menu, showcasing some of the most interesting fare from the deli downstairs. Sample dishes include rosehip fizz, quince syllabub, pheasant, cauliflower & pine and duck hearts with celeriac and lardo. Booking is advisable at all times. Salon serves lunch from Tuesday to Sunday and dinner from Thursday to Saturday. The set menu is priced at £29 per person.

Alvin Leung brings his brand of X-treme Chinese to London with the opening of this Mayfair restaurant. Using a combination of traditional and modern Chinese ingredients and styles, alongside some elements of British cuisine and culture, Bo London aims to revolutionise Chinese food in London. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, with private dining and a chef’s table experience also available. Menu items at Bo London include a selection of fried and steamed Dim Sum, Wagyu Beef, suckling pig with Sichuan vanilla apple and peas and their own version of Toad in the Hole; comprising frog leg, bone marrow, Chinese yorkie, lotus leaf, lotus seed and golden pin. Prices range from £30 for lunch to £138 for the full X-treme Chinese experience of the chef’s menu.

This new Hakkasan restaurant offers just one tasting menu, consisting of a selection of Chinese and Cantonese delights. A sample menu includes king crab salad, lobster soup with goji berry and enoki mushroom and steamed razor clam with chilli and mui-choi glutinous rice. A vegetarian version of the menu, featuring dishes such as tea-smoked vegetarian duck and stuffed morchella is also available. This bespoke dining experience costs £95 per person.

The popular Brazilian-Japanese fusion restaurant is expanding from Chelsea to the City, with a new branch in Devonshire Square due to open in the coming weeks. A cross between a sushi bar and a churrascaria, Sushinho serves an ever-evolving, consistently high-quality menu. Current dishes on offer at the Chelsea restaurant include smoked salmon rolls, scallop ceviche, Hamachi tartare, mixed seafood tempura and USDA prime striploin.
