New Year’s Eve Celebrations

BY cushion the impact

At this point in December, we’re sure you have Christmas Day all planned out (you have, haven’t you?), but what about the other big event at the end of the month? If you haven’t decided what to do on New Year’s Eve yet, here are just a few of the events you could attend. As always, if you would like some help with sourcing tickets, get in touch.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks Display, London Eye

The London Eye on the South Bank will be home to a spectacular free fireworks display on the evening of December 31st.  If you plan to attend, the advice is not to head for the London Eye itself, instead go to one of the prime viewing points at the Victoria Embankment or any of the Waterloo, Westminster or eastern Jubilee bridges. The area is expected to be incredibly busy so make sure to get there very early.  Check on the Transport for London website for details of road closures on the day.

Skate in the New Year at the Natural History Museum

If standing around watching fireworks doesn’t appeal, what about seeing in 2013 on the ice at the Natural History Museum? Tickets for Skate in the New Year are now available for £41 per person.  The tickets includes access to the venue from 8pm on 31st December, a skating session from 11pm until 12.30am, two glasses of champagne, a mince pie and nibbles. Inexperienced skaters can expect to see the New Year in with a bang!

Celebrate on-board the HQS Wellington

For those who want to go all out this New Year’s Eve, here is an opportunity to attend a black-tie event on-board the HQS Wellington. Guests can enjoy a champagne and canapés reception, five-course meal, unlimited house wine, bottled beer and soft drinks and a champagne toast at midnight. When the bells are ringing, those on-board will also be treated to a fantastic view of the London Eye fireworks. If you would like to attend this event, please contact us for more information and to book tickets.

The Candlelight Club’s Christmas Ball

A 1920s speakeasy-style pop-up party in a secret London location definitely sounds like a recipe for a New Year to remember.  If a clandestine celebration accompanied by 1920s jazz, vintage DJ-ing and a selection of themed cocktails sounds like the way you want to spend the evening, this is the party for you.  Light supper will be available until 11pm on 31st December, with the bar remaining open until 2am on 1st January. Tickets to the Candlelight Club’s Christmas Ball cost £40 per person.

 Hogmanay in Edinburgh

Hogmanay, as it is known in Scotland, in Edinburgh is something which must be experienced at least once. There are several events for visitors to choose from; a Torchlight Procession, Concert in the Gardens or a Hogmanay Street Party.  Simple Minds, The View, Bwani Junction and The Maccabbees are a few of the acts included on the line-up for the evening. It’s not all about New Year’s Eve however, there’s an entire festival going on from 30th December until the evening of 1st January. Sled dog races, street theatre, fireworks and a carnival…what more could you want from a celebration?
