October 2018 Newsletter
It’s that time of month again – the day when we share our top picks for the month ahead.
When you think of the final quarter of any year, you may be eager for the numerous parties and events you know are not too far away, re-acquainting yourself with your favourite reading nook at home, complete with cushions, blankets and candles (or is that just me?), or a chance to rediscover cosy winter clothes and those trusty boots.
Whatever you like to do when the weather takes a turn for the worse – and Storm Ali has definitely heralded the beginning of that – we have plenty of recommendations and suggestions up our sleeves. If our shortlist of what and where to go, do, see, buy, and eat in October doesn’t tick all of your boxes, get in touch.
Making Time for You
No matter what season we’re in, the team at cushion the impact is always busy making sure our clients – including you – can enjoy as stress-free a life as possible. During September, some of the requests we fulfilled included:
- Sourcing tickets for Elton John’s final (apparently) tour
- Cricket fans are now happy with tickets for The Ashes 2019 at Edgbaston and Kia Oval
- Removing the contents of a house from London to Edinburgh and also charity shops with 2 days between exchange and contract
- Paid lots of bills for a client and created even more invoices so her bills could be paid
- Organised the transformation of a jungle into a child friendly garden
How could we help remove some of the overwhelm from your life?
Go
To the Tate Modern, where you can see the works of renowned textile artist, Anni Albers, on show in the UK for the first time this century. This retrospective comprises an impressive selection of works created by this pioneer of combining ancient hand-weaving with modern art, and promises an enjoyable and informative experience.
Do
Embrace the impending winter by visiting one of the first of London’s ice rinks to open for the 2018 season. The 1,000 square metre ice rink at the Natural History Museum will return from 25th October, along with the balcony café/bar whose wares may be much needed for warming up afterwards!
See
The life of Joanna Lumley, in her own words, and performed by the comedian and actress herself. Whether you know her as Patsy from Absolutely Fabulous, recognise her from recent charity work, or have been a keen follower of her career since the 60s, It’s All About Me is certain to be entertaining.
Buy
Tickets to one of the hundreds of screenings, workshops and other events making up this year’s BFI London Film Festival. Between 10th and 21st October, you can enjoy exclusive talks from filmmakers, take in some restored films from the archives, or be wowed by any one of the special presentations in store. More information can be found on the Festival website:
Eat
Exquisite food and more teas than you may have known existed, when you visit the UK’s first tea emporium. Recently opened in Covent Garden, Mariage Fréres boasts the largest selection of tea in the world, alongside delicious breakfast, dinner, afternoon tea, and everything in between.
