Once They’re Gone, They’re Gone – November’s Pop-ups
We’ve been so busy with the start of our Christmas tips blogs that we’re a little later than usual with our pop-ups blog this month. Better late than never, as they say, so here are a few of the temporary bars, restaurants and events gracing our fair city in November.
Just look at what you’re missing…
If you’re looking for something different to try, Flambée in Shoreditch could be just the ticket. Serving pizza made from super-thin croissant-style dough, known as Tarte Flambée, this pop-up is bringing a taste of Alsace to Catch Bar on Kingsland Road. Toppings include pulled pork, smoked salmon, lardons and caramelised onions, as well as the vegetarian option of courgettes, camembert and honey. Don’t forget to try one of the dessert Tarte Flambées too; who could resist the Maltesers and Nutella combination?

The Montague on the Gardens Ski Lodge
You don’t need to go abroad for some excellent après-ski; you just need to go to The Montague on the Gardens. The hotel’s own ski lodge has returned for 2014, complete with snow, snowmen, reindeer, ski racks, fairy lights, candied pecans, mulled wine, hot spiced cider and more. You can even book a Christmas party in the ski lodge, where you and your acquaintances can dine on turkey burgers, bratwurst and camembert, washed down with a selection of drinks. Don’t leave without taking a selfie on the Ski Lift! The Montague on the Gardens Ski Lodge opens on 19th November.

There is little better than snuggling in bed on a cold winter’s day watching a great film. What about lounging on giant pillows in the former Shoreditch Tube station watching a great film? Pillow Cinema (launched by the team behind Hot Tub Cinema) provides the giant pillows, the films and the Shoreditch location; you just need to buy a ticket and do the lounging. Choose between a Ryan Gosling triple bill, Despicable Me 2, 500 Days of Summer, There Will Be Blood, Black Swan (with an optional ballet class), Boyhood and The Grand Budapest Hotel, before stocking up on popcorn and snacks and settling down in blissful comfort!
