Our Pick of London’s New Restaurants for April

Now that winter finally seems to be going away (touch wood!), evenings are getting longer and going out is more attractive. If you’re still in hibernation, it’s time you roused yourself, got your glad rags on and ventured out of your cave to discover some of the great new restaurants opening in London this month.

The Pearson Room

Named after former Canadian Prime Minister, Lester B Pearson, this Canada Square eatery is due to open its doors on 24th April. Reservations can now be made for the 120-seat restaurant, where the menu is described as eclectic. Sharing platters feature prominently, with dishes including fish tacos, guinea fowl crown, jam and custard doughnuts and a selection of charcoal grills. The venue also features a 70-seat bar, boasting an extensive wine and cocktail menu created by Sunaina Sethi of Trishna and the experts behind the Worship Street Whistling Shop.

Imli Street

Sample the very best of Indian street food without leaving Soho. Following a full redesign and redevelopment, Imli Street has reopened its doors, ready to serve a variety of delicious dishes to visitors. Designed by the team behind Tamarind, the menu is divided into four sections; Food Cart, Railway Cuisine, Beyond Borders and Coastal Shack. The bi-level loft space is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner..

Heaton, Butler & Bayne

Located in a former stained glass factory, this contemporary space offers a daily changing menu which makes the most of locally-sourced organic produce.  Swedish head chef, Jonas Karlsson, does a fantastic job with the menu, creating a range of mouth-watering dishes including roasted lamb rump and pollock with spinach and duck bresaola. We have to admit to being very tempted by the peanut butter brulee with chocolate chip cookies!

Floral Street, Corner of Garrick Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2E 9BJ Telephone: 020 7379 1432

Have you ever dreamed of dining beneath reclaimed railway arches? No? Well, it is to be recommended if the railway arches in question are those which now form Beagle. Blackened steel, a floor made from railway sleepers and exposed brickwork decorate the huge space which has become Hoxton’s newest restaurant. The local produce-based menu changes regularly but sample dishes include lemon sole, monk’s beard and brown shrimp; grilled onglet, duck fat chips and anchovy sauce; pigeon and prune terrine and peas, broad beans and spenwood.
