Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day, Pancake Tuesday – whichever name you choose, Tuesday 9th February presents a fantastic opportunity to indulge in delicious pancakes.
Regardless of which side of the sweet/savoury divide you fall (or do you like a bit of both?), the humble pancake is the perfect base for all manner of tasty toppings. Nutella? Strawberries? Ham and cheese? Simple yet satisfying lemon and sugar?

Easy recipe for perfect pancakes
Ingredients:
100g plain flour
2 eggs
200ml milk
Pinch salt
- Mix the eggs and flour in a bowl until fully combined
- Add the milk, a little at a time, to form a smooth, thick paste
- If the mixture seems too stiff to beat, add a little more milk until the desired consistency is achieved
- Heat a frying pan, melt some butter (or use oil if you prefer) and add some of the batter, turning once midway through cooking, which will be after about 30 seconds to 1 minute. If you’re feeling brave, you can attempt a flip with a flourish!
