Top Destinations for an Unforgettable Autumn Holiday
Following on from our guide to the best holiday destinations for July, August and September, this second instalment in our regular holiday guide covers our pick of the most popular spots for autumn and winter breaks. If you’re planning to take some time off over the next few months, here’s where to go in October, November and December.
October
It may not be top of your dream holiday destinations list, but this neighbour of Madagascar and Mauritius is perfect for an autumn break in the sun. While the beaches aren’t quite as spectacular as those on Mauritius, Réunion can offer breath-taking scenery, both underwater and on dry land. Whether you prefer to tackle some of the peaks or dive with turtles and exotic fish, you’re bound to have a memorable holiday.
If you’ve already had a long summer holiday so just want a short autumn break, Europe has plenty to offer. One of the amazing destinations just a short flight from London is Seville; famous for flamenco, beautiful architecture and local pottery and crafts. Don’t miss the Cathedral, orange groves and Alcazar.

Who hasn’t dreamed of a holiday on Hawaii’s sun-kissed beaches? Surfing, sun-bathing, sea life and stunning scenery – what more could you ask for? Between riding a mule along the scenic path to Kalaupapa National Park, surfing in Waikiki and exploring the Napali Coast, the most difficult part of your Hawaiian holiday will be choosing which area to visit.
We can’t have an autumn and winter holiday guide without at least one mention of skiing and where better to do it than the glamorous town of Aspen? This famously glitzy ski resort has plenty on offer to visitors, with four different levels of skiing available. Buttermilk is known as one of the best beginner mountains in the US, Snowmass and Aspen Highlands are great for those with a little more experience, while Aspen Mountain offers double-black gullies, dump runs and all manner of challenges for the adventurous skier.
December
December is the ideal time to visit Cambodia, as the humidity levels are lower. Make the most of more bearable weather conditions to experience Angkor Wat and Siem Reap. Cambodia has something for everyone – from spas and massages, meditation and cruising to scuba diving, traditional gondolas and waterfall exploration, we defy you not to find something you love!
From humid heat to biting cold, our next December recommendation is the German city of Berlin.
