What to do with creative kids in London
Half-term is looming large and, with the summer holidays not too far behind, we’re sure you’ll be keen for ideas on how to entertain your little cherubs while school is out. There’s plenty to do in London, of course, but if you want to appeal to your child’s more creative side rather than visiting the zoo or a museum, here are a few ideas that may come in handy.
We will be delighted to provide some more personal suggestions too, just get in touch and let us know what your little darling is interested in.
Danceworks in Mayfair will be running a summer school for 8-16 year olds who have some prior ballet experience. Running from 20th-31st July, the course will include performance classes and will be taught by experienced teachers and current professionals. If you’re interested in the elite Ballet Academy, why not visit the Danceworks Open Day on 7th June? Contact Konstancja on 020 7629 6183 to register.
Bouncing Cats and Boom Boom Pups
If the spoken word and an interactive story-telling session sound more suitable for your children, have a look at this even at the Last Word Festival. Immersive and high-energy, this isn’t your normal story time. A graffiti installation and some hip-hop are used to bring the story to life, along with some help and beat-boxing from the children in the audience. Bouncing Cats and Boom Boom Pups will run at 11am and 1pm on 27th May.
Create & Make at the Design Museum
Rather than just visiting a museum, how about getting stuck in and becoming a designer? This workshop, which runs at the Design Museum on the last Sunday of every month, allows 5-11 year olds to get their hands dirty and create their own masterpieces. Upcoming events include Life on Foot on 31st May, inspired by the Camper at the Design Museum exhibition, and DIY Gamer Animation in June.
Young Archaeologists’ Club at Fulham Palace
A new Young Archaeologists’ Club has opened at Fulham Palace, offering children the opportunity to explore Bronze Age burials, Thames Mudlarking and more. New events will be announced on the Fulham Palace website shortly – please bear in mind that all events must be booked in advance. There is a drop-in day on 25th May, so why not pop along?
