Where to Celebrate Halloween 2014 in London

BY cushion the impact

Being an adult doesn’t mean you need to give up fancy dress (although we wouldn’t blame you at all if you gleefully got rid of it all as soon as you were old enough to have a choice…), particularly around Halloween. If you are a fan of fancy dress and complex costumes, you have plenty of options available to you at the end of this month. One question – if you go to more than one of these Halloween parties, do you need a new costume for each or is recycling ok?

Dr Frankenstein at Mr Fogg’s

Mr Fogg’s aren’t keeping their Halloween celebrations to the night itself, they’re offering a full six days of beastly concoctions and scientifically experimental cocktails courtesy of Dr Frankenstein. Bubbling cauldrons, jars of eyeballs and assorted body parts and all manner of eerie entertainment. Apparently the bartenders will be getting in on the act too, with a trick or two up their sleeves.

Halloween Tea at The Royal Horseguards Hotel

Celebrating Halloween doesn’t have to take place after dark; we can think of absolutely no reason why it shouldn’t be marked with a deliciously decadent afternoon tea. A themed menu would make it a perfectly acceptable Halloween event, yes? Well, The Royal Horseguards Hotel have prepared exactly that and will be serving spiced pumpkin jammie dodgers, cobweb cotton candy, chocolate coffin cake and spooky skull cupcakes to guests indulging in a Halloween Tea. There will, of course, be a selection of sandwiches and scones to accompany the scary sweets.

80s Slasher Mash-up at Maggie’s

If horror movies are your thing, 80’s club Maggie’s is the place to go for Halloween this year. All party-goers must show-up in fancy dress reminiscent of The Thing, The Shining, Lost Boys, Hellraiser or even Ghostbusters or Gremlins. Basically, transform yourself into your favourite (or most feared) retro horror movie character. Once you get there, you’ll find yourself in a film set featuring flashbacks of all of these frightening films and more… One more thing – it’s well worth making an effort with your costume as the best dressed guests could win a Belvedere Vodka-laden fish bowl cocktail. Tickets to the event must be purchased in advance and are now available.
