Where to Watch the World Cup in London

We’ve already told you how to avoid the World Cup but, in the spirit of fairness, we thought we should also share some of the best places to watch it. If you have already dedicated half of this summer to the World Cup and are planning to dedicate the rest of it to the Commonwealth Games, you’ll need a selection of pubs to tour. Kill two birds with one stone by getting your sporting fix while discovering these excellent London establishments.

Where could be better to celebrate the Brazil World Cup than a Brazilian-themed bar? This pop-up bar within Archer Street isn’t actually showing the games but is definitely the place to be for a post-match party. Dance troupes appearing at random to lead the festivities, staff clad head to toe in football strips and plenty of caipirinhas and cocktails are sure to add up to a fantastic night.

Fat Ronaldo’s

You may be in Shoreditch but the tropical palm trees and deck chairs will have you convinced you’re in Brazil, enjoying the carnival atmosphere as the World Cup progresses. Ok, maybe not, but it is an excellent venue for soaking up football, beer and cocktails alike. Watch England’s remaining games, triumphant re-runs during the empty few days leading up to the final matches and pretty much every other World Cup match as it happens. While you’re there, treat yourself to a Messi burger or visit the swap shop to complete your Panini sticker collection.

World Cup on the Terrace

RELIGION and SPIN London have set up what is possibly the ultimate World Cup viewing location in London, right on top of Old Street Tube station. Each day’s matches will be shown on the big screen, accompanied by plenty of food and drink. Entry to the Terrace is free, but you will need to book a ticket online for the day you plan to attend. Tickets holders get priority entry but bear in mind it is first come first served.
